Welcome
Wominjeka / Welcome
Welcome to NikeLab Kulin Nation. This mix is an introduction to Rituals of Care, guiding you as custodians of community, land, and self.
The recording begins with a warm welcome from Aunty Di Kerr, a Wurundjeri elder, as she shares her profound connection to Country. Next, Jazz Money meditates on her own connection to land with ‘Bilabang,’ a Wiradjuri creation story from Common Ground’s Dreamy series. Here the ever-expanding sky above unfolds, intertwining the past with the present. Then, like a steady current, the music takes over, guiding you on your hour-long journey from Wurundjeri land to Bunurong land in the Kulin Nation’s South East.
Your journey is soundtracked by a diverse mix of First Nations artists, offering a glimpse into the hundreds of nations and cultural groups across Australia, each with their own beliefs, languages and practices. Your arrival at Bunurong land is signalled by the wisdom of Lakeisha, a Bunurong knowledge holder.

András and Noise In My Head
Community is central to the work of DJs and curators András and Michael Kucyk (Noise In My Head). Their collaborations for Efficient Space - a reissue label run by Michael - champions community by amplifying unsung Australian recordings, blurring the lines between past and present. Their re-release of Waak Waak Djungi epitomises this, recontextualising songs of instruction, story and ceremony from three Yolŋu songmen. Their mix is a reflection of the community they’ve fostered in Victoria and all across Australia.
Carla Dal Forno
Jajarawong/Castlemaine-based songwriter Carla Dal Forno is an important link between the creative communities spanning Melbourne, London, and Berlin. While recording her album Look Up Sharp, Carla found herself absorbed in London’s sprawling mess, finding refuge in community through kindred spirits and the ghosts of her influences. Her NTS residency and solo releases reflect these geographically divided but musically-linked communities, brought to the fore in her hour-long mix for NikeLab Radio*.

Sleep D
Naarm based production duo Sleep D epitomise Australia’s underground electronic scene. Their releases span a broad spectrum of sound, but all draw direct inspiration from the land around them, This is maybe most apparent in their collaboration with Ad Lib Orchestra, where songs like ‘Cavern’ and ‘Lagoon’ illustrate a direct role geography plays in shaping their sound. Sleep D’s hour-long mix showcases Australian artists in similar conversation with land, alongside their own ambient recordings.
Divide and Dissolve
Divide and Dissolve delve into the concept of boundaries and discomfort in connection to land, prompting listeners to question their relationship to Country. The duo's heavy sound carries a message advocating Indigenous sovereignty and opposing colonial atrocities, with members Reed and Nehill forming a bond over their diverse heritages of African American, Cherokee, white Australian, and Māori origins. Takiaya, one half of Divide and Dissolve, explores land through this decolonial lens in her hour-long mix.
Surprise Chef
The Naarm jazz quintet, Surprise Chef, are set to deliver a live on-site performance, engaging in an hour-long improvised session that meditates on space and dynamics.
Amos Roach 'Three'
Djab Wurrung/Gunditj Mara and Ngarrindjeri artist Amos Roach presents ‘Three’, a live and specially commissioned collaboration with Hand to Earth’s Peter Knight and Aviva Endean.

E Fishpool
Yuin artist E Fishpool uses their music to explore the process of unlearning and (re)learning identity. They sample noise, dialogue and field recordings to understand self, resurgence and healing through sound. For NikeLab Radio*, E Fishpool curates music that has influenced their identity and selfhood.
Moopie and Bayu
DJs and label owners Moopie and Bayu have a unique relationship to identity and self, operating A Colourful Storm; a label whose mission is to "explore the feelings which appeal to us most—desire, urgency, desperation." For NikeLab Radio*, Bayu & Moopie offer a downtempo selection exploring selfhood, featuring music from their childhood and tracks from their own imprint.
Abby Sundborn
Woi Worrung DJ and composer Abby Sundborn will be performing live on-ground, utilising ambient sounds to delve into themes of selfhood and identity. Abby will seamlessly bridge the transition from the Wayapa's ‘Care for Self’ experience to the day's remaining program.
